Help Advance Dr. Kesari’s Research

For more than two decades, Dr. Santosh Kesari has worked at the intersection of patient care and scientific discovery, with a focus on finding better options for patients facing cancer and other complex diseases.

His work extends beyond the patients he sees at Asthra Research Center.

Dr. Kesari leads and advises research through two nonprofit organizations: CureScience Institute and The Lundquist Institute. Through these organizations, he is helping advance research in precision medicine, cancer biology, immunotherapy, treatment resistance, biomarkers, artificial intelligence, and new approaches to difficult-to-treat cancers.

The Lisa Gillespie ENCORE Initiative

Enabling Neuro Clinical Oncology Research & Education
The Lisa Gillespie ENCORE Initiative was established in memory of Lisa Gillespie, who faced glioblastoma with the hope that what was learned through her experience could help the patients who came after her.

Through philanthropic support, ENCORE will advance neuro-oncology research, education and patient access to personalized approaches, building on the work of Dr. Santosh Kesari and collaborations with CureScience Institute.

Lisa was a dancer and teacher who spent her life helping others. ENCORE carries that legacy forward—turning one patient’s experience into greater knowledge, access and opportunity for others.

CureScience Institute

Dr. Kesari serves as Chair of the Scientific Advisory Board at CureScience Institute, a nonprofit translational research organization focused on moving precision medicine discoveries closer to patients.

At CureScience Institute, Dr. Kesari helps guide a broader translational research effort that integrates precision oncology, bioinformatics, artificial intelligence, immunology, biomarkers, and therapeutic development.

An important part of this work is CureScience’s patient-centered services, which provide patients and families with a place to turn when they need help understanding and navigating increasingly complex treatment options. Through its patient programs, CureScience provides navigation and support, financial assistance for eligible patients, access to advanced AI and bioinformatics tools, and individualized N-of-1 precision medicine services designed around the biology and circumstances of each patient.

CureScience brings scientists, clinicians, data experts, and patient advocates together to help translate complex genomic, molecular, and clinical information into insights that can inform personalized strategies and identify potential therapeutic opportunities.

Dr. Kesari helps guide these efforts across brain tumors and other difficult-to-treat cancers, with the goal of building a more connected pathway from scientific discovery to meaningful options and support for patients and families.

The Lundquist Institute Dr Kesari Lab

The Kesari Lab at The Lundquist Institute

Dr. Kesari is also an Investigator in Cancer Biology and Immunotherapeutics at The Lundquist Institute, where he leads the Kesari Lab.

The laboratory is focused on precision and translational medicine for rare and aggressive cancers, including understanding why cancers become resistant to treatment, studying interactions between tumors and the immune system, identifying new biomarkers and therapeutic targets, and developing strategies that can ultimately be translated into clinical studies.

The Kesari Lab brings together cancer biology, immunology, computational science, patient samples, and preclinical models with one goal: turning scientific discoveries into better approaches for patients.

And through  Asthra Research Center, Dr. Kesari remains closely connected to the patients and families whose experiences help identify the questions that research urgently needs to answer.
Together, this creates a continuum from patient need → scientific discovery → translational research → new therapeutic possibilities.
